Tips On Designing Your Next Bathroom
You could need to build a bathroom for your new home. Or perhaps you are renovating an old room or adding another bathroom to your home. No matter what the reason, your space is somewhat restricted. Use these ideas as you progress.
First, list the things you absolutely need in your bathroom which should include, of course, the toilet and the sink. Then you'll also need either install a bathtub or a shower stall if you are working on a full bathroom.
Next are the items you would like to incorporate. Many times people use a sink cabinet to give storage, but if your room is small or you prefer a more modern look, pick a pedestal sink. You will almost certainly want to add a mirror to hang over the sink, and you may opt for a mirrored medicine chest that will give you even more storage space. A fan can be helpful for keeping humidity out and you will in all probability want a space for shelves of some kind.
Measure your bathroom well and choose items that you think you would like in your bathroom and obtain the measurements. Some suggest drawing a plan to scale, but for those of us who are less visual, it can be helpful to cut paper to the actual size of the footprint of the item. Place these bits and pieces in the bathroom, arranging them to where you think you would like them, but do not forget that you need space between things.
If the whole thing fits well, there are a few more considerations. You might be restricted by plumbing or electricity. Will the windows, if there are any, give you too little confidentiality?
If necessary, adjust your plan until you have a design that is beautiful and uses the space as successfully as possible. If you just have too much stuff for the room, think about out what can go. For instance, you can swap a sink with a cabinet underneath for a pedestal model. Or, if you wanted both shelves and a cabinet, use only one of them. Some towels and toilet paper can be stored in the cabinet, with the surplus supplies in a convenient storage area elsewhere in your house.
A small amount of imagination and a lot of measuring can help your dream bathroom work for you. When you find a bathroom design that works, it's time to put the pieces all together. Your time and hard work will definitely pay off.
